Dotter-Swden-2022

Swedish broadcaster SVT has named Dotter as the spokesperson for Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Dotter has taken part in Melodifestivalen 3 times in the past. Bulletproof was Dotter’s most successful attempt in the national final finishing in 2nd place in 2020. SVT has confirmed Dotter will read out Sweden’s jury points on Saturday 14th May during the Eurovision Grand Final. This year Sweden will be represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who will sing the song “Hold Me Closer”.

Who is Dotter?

Dotter is a singer-songwriter from Arvika, however, she later moved to Stockholm. In 2018 Dotter debuted in Melodifestivalen with her song “Cry”, however only placed sixth in the semi-final. She then returned as a songwriter for Lina Hedlund, whose song “Victorious” made the 2019 Melodifestivalen final, placing eleventh overall. 2020 was Dotter’s most successful Melodifestivalen attempt, placing second with her song “Bulletproof”. Dotter also competed in the 2021 edition of Melodifestivalen with her song “Little Tot”, this time around she placed fourth in the final.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
