Gali Atari & Noifeld’s Glasses – “לאן לחזור”
Gali Atari, who won Eurovision 1979 as part of the group Milk & Honey with the song “Hallelujah,” has released a new track with producer Noifeld’s Glasses. “לאן לחזור”, which means “Where to go back” in English, is a upbeat track about new beginnings. On her Instagram, Gali Atari says that she was connecting to the song “from the first listen”.
Netta and Ron Barzilai – “האהבה אשר בינינו”
Gali Atari isn’t the only Israeli winner who released new music this month. Netta, who won in 2018 with the song “Toy,” has released a new song with her brother Ron Barzilai. The song, entitled “האהבה אשר בינינו” (The love between us), is a cover of a 1972 Shashi Keshet track. Netta and Ron recorded the song for an upcoming documentary by filmmaker Tomer Heymann about someone who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. The track is a great little acoustic number, while the music video combines parts from the film with footage of Netta and Ron performing the song.
Eimear Quinn & Sarah Class – “Naiades of Nymphes”
Eimear Quinn, winner of the 1996 contest with her song “The Voice,” has released a new song. Or, well, a new mix at least. In 2020, Eimear Quinn appeared on the track “Naiades of Nymphes” from the album “Natural High” by English composer Sarah Class. The new version presented this month sees the song released as a stand-alone single, with a different mix and increased in length. The lyrics are based on fragments from poetry by Sappho, the famous Ancient Greek poet. The song is, in the words of Quinn and Class, “not only a dedication to Sarah and Eimear’s long standing friendship but to female love and friendship in all its forms.”.
Conchita Wurst – “Erstmal Pause”
The “Rise Like A Phoenix” singer is back with more music! Conchita Wurst, who won Eurovision in 2014, has released “Erstmal Pause” (First, take a break) shortly after last month’s “Paris (Savoir-Vivre)”. “Erstmal Pause” is Conchita’s first German-language release this year. In a press release on Conchita’s website, the song and video are described as inviting the listener to “do nothing at all, at least for a moment, and surrender to the vibrations of summer – even if it’s only for a few minutes”. The song does exactly that, with a chill melody and beat perfect for those late summer nights.
Conchita’s summer break will truly last only a few minutes as well, as the singer will be the main host of ZDF’s new music entertainment show “Music Impossible – Mein Song. Dein Sound.”, which will start airing in September. I promise to at least write a review after the first episode, so follow our socials so you can’t miss that!
Nicole – “Ich bin zurück!”
Germany’s first Eurovision winner, Nicole, is back with her single “Ich bin zurück!” (I am back!). The song was debuted live on German TV during “Das große Schlagercomeback 2022”. The new track, which she wrote together with legendary German singer-songwriter Heinz Rudolf Kunze, is the first single and title track of her upcoming album, which will release October 21. The song is her first release since surviving cancer, a diagnosis she made public earlier this year. Musically, the track is classic Schlager, sure to do well among German Schlager afficionados and Melodifestivalen fans alike.
