Junior Eurovision is fast approaching, Eurovision news is happening left right and center already, and of course there is a lot of music to talk about! So let’s settle into this round-up of new music from Eurovision and beyond. This edition includes: duets, the first moments of Christmas, and some long awaited albums.
If you want to jump straight to a certain section, here’s a list of pages, each filled to the brim with new music:
- The 2024 entries
- The Winners
- Other Highlights (You’ll find the album of the month here!)
- Now That’s What I Call… The Extended Eurovision Universe (artists from NFs, JESC, intervals, and more) (Track of the month is here!)
The 2024 entries
alyona alyona – “А що буде”
We start this month with someone who just can’t stop releasing bangers: alyona alyona. The sweeping “А що буде” (And what will happen) is a song that asks its listener what kind of legacy they want to and currently would leave behind. Anton Chilibi (Kola, DOROFEEVA, backing vocals on “Teresa & Maria”) wrote the cinematic-sounding music with Ivan Klymenko (“Teresa & Maria”, “Kupala“, “Stefania”) joining alyona alyona in writing the lyrics. Ivan and Anton also share production credits for this track.
DØR – “DESALENTO” (feat. iolanda & Rita Onofre)
Portuguese producer DØR has released an entire album this month, which features Portugal’s iolanda on one of the songs! “DESALENTO” (DISMAY) is an electronic piece with jazz-like sensibilities. The album this is part of, also features new music by DØR collabing with the likes of Isaura, LEFT., and many more well known Portuguese artists.
Natalia Barbu – “Inima”
Singing from the “Inima” (Heart) this month is Natalia Barbu. This new music was written by Natalia together with Nicoleta Brinza (composer on Barbu’s 2021 album “La Capatul Cerului”) and Ivan Lincovschi (Aliona Moon).
Olly Alexander – “Cupid’s Bow”
“Cupid’s Bow” represents the latest single by 2024 UK representative Olly Alexander. Reminiscent of some of the earliest releases of Years & Years, the track was written by Olly together with Danny L Harle (“Dizzy”, Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek). Danny L Harle and Finn Keane (charli xcx, Rita Ora, Hannah Diamond) produced the song.
ISAAK x Unknown Brain – “SOS”
Faceless duo Unknown Brain team up with ISAAK to create this song that might resonate with someone but to me is a deeply unpleasant reminder of some of my least favourite music from about a decade ago. The duo obviously took on the production, while songwriting was split between ISAAK, Unknown Brain, and Florian Ragendorfer (member of Austrian duo Einfach Flo).
İlkin Dövlətov, Səbinə Ərəbli – “Qonşular”
Azerbaijan’s İlkin shows up a lot in the round-up, although little of it is actually new music but instead official releases of duets, covers, and other tracks previously performed on TV. So here is a TV duet where he covers an old song!
İlkin Dövlətov – “Yaşa Ürəyim” (EP)
As for more new music from him: here is a whole EP! Read more about “Yaşa Ürəyim” (Long Live My Heart) in our article:
Mustii – “THE MAZE”
