🎶 Eurovision music round-up: July 2022

NF Fan Favourites

As any Eurovision megafan knows, Eurovision neither starts nor ends with the main contest. National Final season always introduces the world to new and exciting artists, many of which don’t get to go to the main event. Here are some of the best releases from National Final artists this month:

Tanxugueiras – “Diluvio” (LP)

I already mentioned last month that Tanxugueiras had an album coming out, and it is finally here! The televote favourite of Benidorm Fest 2022 present their third studio album, “Diluvio” (Deluge). The 12 track album includes Benidorm entry “Terra”, “Averno” featuring fellow Benidorm contestant Rayden, and many other previous singles. To celebrate the release of the album, the Galician trio put out one more single: “Fame de Odio” (Hunger and Hate).

BESS – Rakastan en rakasta

BESS couldn’t Ram Pam Pam her way out of Finland’s UMK this year, but that won’t stop her. New single “Rakastan en rakasta” (I love, I don’t love). Building on the sound that she was introduced to us Eurofans with, “Rakasten en rakasta” is a powerful poprock track about not being sure about starting or further developing a relationship. As BESS sings: “How can I choose when my heart is a rebellion?”. Bess wrote the song together with Lisa Nikula, Sini Yasemin, and Jonas Olsson, who also produced the track together with Topify.

Tobias Sammet’s Avantasia featuring Bob Catley – “The Moonflower Society”

Tobias Sammet’s Avantasia, or just Avantasia, competed in the German National Final back in 2016. The metal opera supergroup has now released the first single of their upcoming 9th studio album, “A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society”, which will release in October. It is a beautifully flowing metal track. Tobias Sammet says about the song that “[a] moonflower is a creature of the night that blossoms when the world is asleep. For me, it stands on one hand for the weird characters I populate my songs with, and on the other hand for the weird characters I surround myself with in AVANTASIA.”

Ali Bakgor featuring Felicia Lu – “Mistake”

Felicia Lu, who competed in two German National Finals, lends her voice to the track “Mistake” by Turkish DJ Ali Bakgor. The song is a lovely smooth deep house track with lyrics about a former lover who has made a mistake too big to take back or forgive. The track is written and produced by Ali Bakgor and Felicia Lu, and is released by British label Spectrum Recordings.

Listen to all the songs above and more

We’ve made a handy Spotify playlist of the songs in this article and all other releases from Eurovision artists this month, including remixes and other special releases. From S10 and Nicole to Jamie-Lee’s cover of “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)”, Serhat’s latest release, and everything in between, we’ve got you covered! Well, except Netta’s track, which seems to be unavailable on Spotify. The playlist gets updated every month, so don’t forget to follow it to always stay up to date. Did we miss anything? 1. Loving this post. Sometimes, I think the most in the Eurovision fandom forget to check out their favorites’ follow up songs and albums. Instead, they prefer to listen to the same ESC songs.
