Tonight the first show of Pabandom iš Naujo 2023 took place. The show is Lithuania’s series to pick its act for this year’s Eurovision in Liverpool. The show was hosted by Augustė Nombeko and Giedrius Masalskis and was actually recorded on Tuesday, with televotes being collected tonight and the results of the jury being revealed. Following the completion of tonight’s show we now know which 10 acts will progress to the semi-final stage.

The results consisted of a combined jury and televote with equal weighting which was then converted to one set each of 12, 10 and 8-1 points.
The 10 successful acts will now move forward to the semi-finals taking place on Saturday 4th and 11th February. Next Saturday a further 10 acts will be selected from Heat Two to move forward to the semi-finals.

Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey
The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 21 times and made the Grand Final 14 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.
Lithuania’s latest Eurovision participation, saw them being represented by Monika Liu, participated with the song “Sentimentai”. Qualifying for the final, Lithuania finished in 14th place overall, with 128 points.
