Serbian national broadcaster RTS has announced that submissions for their Eurovision 2024 entry are now open. Submissions will remain open until November 1st, 2023.

Serbia’s Selection Plans

2024 would mark the third year of Pesma za Evroviziju as Serbia’s national final. Serbia had previously held a national final under the names Beovizija and Beosong, as well as occasionally opting for internal selections. However, despite OGAE Serbia’s July report that a national final would be held, RTS has not explicitly confirmed Pesma za Evroviziju’s return.

According to RTS’ website, submitted songs will be reviewed by an RTS music team for selection “based solely on their artistic quality”. RTS reserves the right to internally select a song or songs should none of the submitted entries meet their standards.

Serbia’s Eurovision Journey

In 2007, Serbia made its debut as an independent country, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. There, they were represented by Marija Ε erifoviΔ‡ with β€œMolitva”, which won the competition in Serbia’s first year competing.

Since their debut, Serbia has participated 15 times–12 of which they qualified for the Grand Final. Luke Black represented Serbia at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool with his song β€œSamo mi se spava”. At this year’s competition, Serbia qualified for the Grand Final, where they placed 24th. At the close of voting, Luke Black had received 30 points – 14 coming from the jury and 16 from the televote.
