🇱🇻 Latvia confirms Eurovision 2024 participation

The new Eurovision season is in full swing, and more countries are confirming their intention to participate in 2024. This time, we have another Baltic country confirming its intention, and that is Latvia.

Supernova to be used as selection once again

Along with confirming their participation, LTV has confirmed that it will once again be selecting its Eurovision 2024 representative via its selection ‘Supernova’, which has been used since 2015 (with the exception of 2021).

Submissions for Supernova 2024 open today (September 12), and will remain open until November 30, 2023. The competing artists will be revealed in January, with the Final taking place in February 2024.

The rules for Supernova 2024 (in Latvian) can be found right here. Those who are interested in submitting an application can do so right here.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.

Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Sudden Lights, who performed “Aijā”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 11th with 34 points from the televote.
