Other Highlights
There is way too much music released every month to cover in-depth, but here are some of the best and biggest new tracks from other Eurovision artists:
Ruth Lorenzo & Tanxugueiras – “Reina”
One of Spain’s most iconic ESC entrants and one of the most iconic Spanish NF contestants teaming up for a song? Sign me up! “Reina” (Queen) is a fairly recent release by Spain’s 20-14 representative Ruth Lorenzo, and now she has released a new version with Tanxugueiras. The Galician folk trio add even more power to the already stomping rock original.
zalagasper – “morski psi”
“Sebi” is many people’s favourite Slovenian entry, and with that praise any zalagasper release since deserves some special attention. This month, they released their new single “morski psi” (sharks). Of particular note is that this is the rare time where Gašper of zalagasper takes the lead vocals. Musically, it’s another gentle electronica piece by the duo, which lyrically deals with being both overwhelmed and at peace with your emotions.
LPS – “Insomnia”
LPS are finally back, baby! The “Disco” this month continue with their excellent new alt- and indie-sound on new track “Insomnia”. Less moody than previous release “Osem Korakov”, “Insomnia” is a musically fairly upbeat entry. Lyrically, well, it’s exactly what’s on the tin: about insomnia.
Mike Tramp – “Hvis Du Vil”
Mike Tramp appeared on the Eurovision stage as part of Danish representatives Mabel all the way back in 1978. He’d prove that said sugary pop is not so much his thing ever since, most notably as the leader of glam metal band White Lion. His new track, “Hvis Du Vil” (If You Want) is another solo offering of his. The song is a laid back country-rock ballad.
Natasha St-Pier – “Oh Happy Day”
France’s 2001 entry shows a different side to herself in her new single “Oh Happy Day”. Instead of the chanson of her album from last year, she now gives us a cover of a gospel classic, and in English too!
Vanna – “Navika”
You indulged me for long enough here, so have a banger as a treat. Croatian singer and fellow 2001 alum Vanna has released her new single “Navika” (Habit). From an atmospheric start to some great beats and a killer hook after the first chorus, it’s a great track.
KEiiNO – “Get Up”
Norwegian fan-favourites KEiiNO hope you pay attention and “Get Up” to their new release. Find out more about the song, and what KEiiNO is planning, here:
