Malmö, the host city for Eurovision 2024, will open volunteer applications from 15th December for volunteers to be part of the event in April and May.

Following the host city announcement in July, the City of Malmö has been hard at work preparing for Eurovision 2024. Shortly they will open up the application process for 600 volunteers to help with the organisation of the contest, giving volunteers the chance to experience supporting at a major event.

Volunteers get free transport within Malmo, food during work shifts, and a set of volunteer clothing that they get to keep after the event.

Volunteer requirements

To apply, volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • be born in 2005 or earlier (some roles require you to be born in 1998 or earlier).
  • have a good command of the Swedish and English languages ​​in speech and writing.
  • have access to a smartphone 
  • Previous volunteer experience at international events is advantageous.
  • Some roles require a B driver’s license.

Volunteers must also have a Swedish personnummer and mobile bank ID.

Volunteer roles

Many different roles are available for volunteers. Volunteers can ask for a specific role as part of the application, but there is no guarantee of what role they will be allocated. 

Roles available include:

  • Design – preparing and deploying decor in Malmö prior to Eurovision, and hosting the artwork during the actual event days
  • Volunteer services – managing and helping other volunteers
  • Runners – flexible roles depending on the requirements on the day (requires B drivers licence)
  • SVT staff support – help support SVT staff on site
  • City host – guiding visitors around the city and encouraging participation in events
  • Backstage – helping delegations and TV production
  • City event party host – helping with turquoise carpet and other events
  • Media host – looking after the media on site in the press centre
  • Transport logistics – loading and transporting luggage across the city (requires B drivers licence)
  • Accreditation – handling accreditation passes
  • Delegation host – looking after a specific delegation country (must be born 1998 or earlier, and speak one of the delegation languages as well as Swedish and English).
