We ranked the songs taking part in the final of Supernova, using a 1-10 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 10 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings. Right below, you can see the top three for this week’s show.

3rd. Avéi- “Mine” (4.00)

2nd. Alekss Silvers – “For the show” (3.60):

1st. Funkinbiz – “Na Chystu Vodu” (3.60)

Although Alekss Silvers and Funkinbiz received the same overall average, Funkinbiz received more first place rankings than Alekss Silvers so Funkinbiz are our winners for this selection.

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from the Final of Supernova 2024?

Kittens (“Mine”): A dark techno influenced banger with a high BPM was always going to be in my ballpark. Thankfully the performance in the semi finals was not as much of a mess as I was expecting and definitely matched the club vibe of the song. Exceeded my expectations, especially with that tricky fast vocal delivery!

Jazzi (“For the show”): This is a fun little bop, this is a song that I will admit had to grow on me a bit. It’s nice also to see after a few attempts that Alekss has finally made the final. And I agree with Latvia this is absolutely his best attempt in Supernova. This would be a lot of fun in Malmö.

Euan (“Na Chystu Voda”): Funky, jazzy, and hard to define by genre is a surefire way to get my interest. The groups ability to be both subdued and attention drawing. While not a vocally taxing song the singers vocals should still be commended as soothing, and complement the song well. If their performance in the semi final is repeated in the final then it would be an extremely deserving winner, especially as this year is lacking such a calm song.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.

Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Sudden Lights, who performed “Aijā”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 11th with 34 points from the televote.
