What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from the Eurovizija.LT 2024 Final?
Rory (“Luktelk”): I can’t deny, this is one of the most intriguing songs that have been in the Lithuanian selections for a long time. It sounds modern, has a very sleek look to it and could easily get commercial radio play. Plus, the benefit of having the Lithuanian language in there – I think it should be likely to go, but you never know with Lithuania. I’m keeping my fingers crossed though!
Jazzi (“Walk through fire”): If you know me, you’ll know I love a girlband, especially a girlband that delivers bops. Queens of Roses certainly do this the performance of this was so fierce and powerful I loved it. I think this would be quite fun to have at Eurovision in Malmö in May.
Euan (“Gaudė vėjai): Žalvarinis manage to stand out in what is quite a stacked final. The Lithuanian language and great drums are always going to hook me in, but there’s a certain earthiness to the instrumentals that really compliment the vocalists’ voices. Lithuania really tends to shy away from folk rock entries, but I’d be absolutely ecstatic if they chose this. This is the sort of representation that has really been lacking from their entries.
Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey
The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 21 times and made the Grand Final 14 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.
In 2023, Monika Linkytė represented Lithuania, participating with the song “Stay”. Performing in the second semi-final, Monika qualified for the final in fourth place. In the Grand Final, Lithuania finished in 11th place overall, with 127 points – 81 points came from the juries, with another 46 points from the televote.
