iolanda, who is hoping to represent Portugal at Eurovision 2024

After two semi-finals, we now know that Iolanda has won Festival da Canção 2024. Shewill represent Portugal at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Grito”.

Festival da Canção 2024 Results

20 artists were announced for Festival da Canção 2024. They were split across two semi-finals that took place over the last two weeks – 10 in semi-final 1 and 10 in semi-final 2. Six artists advanced from each semi-final to tonight’s final. The final results were decided with a combination of the jury and televote, each with a weighting of 50%. Iolanda won the jury vote, while Jõao Borsch won the televote.

Portugal’s Eurovision History

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest with António Calvário’s “Oração” in 1964. Since then, Portugal has participated in the competition 54 times – appearing the final 45 times. Their only win in the competition came in 2017 with Salvador Sobral, performing his heart-wrenching song “Amar Pelos Dois”.

Portugal’s most recent participation was with Mimicat with the song “Ai, coração”. Mimicat managed to qualify for the Grand Final and once there, she finished in 23rd place. She received a total of 59 points, of which 43 points came from the jury and 16 points came the televote.
