About Cristina Clara

Cristina Clara is a singer from Minho who began studying theater and singing while working as a nurse in a Lisbon hospital. After being invited by Grammy nominated fado singer Marco Rodrigues to perform in a fado house, Cristina went on to start a recording career of her own. Her debut album “Lua Adversa” was released in 2021 and saw her draw from traditional Portuguese music, Brazilian popular music, and jazz. Since then, she has gone on to perform at festivals, theaters and more across Portugal, Brazil, and beyond. Her musical and lyrical interest is in the dialogue she sees between different traditional identities and urban songs.

Portugal’s Eurovision journey

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest with António Calvário’s “Oração” in 1964. Since then, Portugal has participated in the competition 54 times – appearing the final 45 times. Their only win in the competition came in 2017 with Salvador Sobral, performing his heart-wrenching song “Amar Pelos Dois”.
