As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next entry we will be reacting to is Georgia, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Firefighter” by Nutsa Buzaladze.
Our thoughts on “Firefighter”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Firefighter”
What did the other members of the team think of “Firefighter”?
Jazzi : Have I heard this type of song many times in Eurovision before? Yes! Does this type of song often do well at Eurovision? Also yes. This is exactly the type of song Georgia needed to send this year to try and just get themselves back into the final. The audience will engage with this pop girlie banger. I am sure that Nutsa will bring a massive stage show as well. It would be really nice to see them return to the final with this entry.
Euan: The big positive coming from this entry is just how attention drawing it is while listening to it when compared to some of Georgia’s recent attempts. Sadly I think this where the positives really end. This is so incredibly girlie-pop-banger by numbers that it really struggles to stand out in a very competitive field. While its entertaining to to listen to I struggle to really remember anything about it. In fact when I try and remember it, it just morphs into other similar songs. It’s just a bit too run of the mill and struggles to have its own identity.

Georgia’s Eurovision Journey
Georgia’s history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements – both coming in 9th – were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing Shine and Eldrine with One More Day. They have not qualified for the final since 2016, where they were represented by Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz with Midnight Gold.
For 2023, former Junior Eurovision winner Iru represented Georgia with her song “Echo”. At the close of voting, however, Georgia failed to qualify for the final for the sixth year in a row. Iru finished in 12th place in the semi-final, earning 33 points from the televote.
