Estonia’s Eurovision 2024 representatives 5Miinust and Puuluup have released their collaborative album “kannatused ehk külakiigel pole stopperit”. This translates to “Suffering, aka the village swing, doesn’t have breaks”).
The Album
The album contains 13 tracks, including their Eesti Laul winning track “(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”. Musically, it perfectly fuses the rap/hip hop style of 5Miinust with the folk style of Puuluup. Lyrically, several tracks on the album use the subject matter of rural vs urban life. This includes the first track they released from the album earlier this week “isegi kakelda pole kellegagi” (English – don’t even have anyone to fight with”).

5Miinust x Puuluup’s Eurovision Journey
5Miinust are a hip-hop group formed Võsu in 2015, consisting of members Kristjan Jakobson, known as Kohver (Suitcase), Mihkel Tamm or Päevakoer (Barking Dog), Karl “Korea” Kivastik and Priit “Lancelot” Tomson. The group quickly rose to being one of the biggest in Estonia, with 6 Estonian number 1 singles to their name, including a collaboration with Pluuto and Nublu. The group have won Estonian artist of the year on two occasions.
Puuluup, a folk duo made up of Ramo “Pastacas” Teder and Marko Veisson, joins them on stage. Their main instruments are Talharpa and Loopers, and self describe their style as “neozombie postal folk”.
The two combined to produce their Eesti Laul, then Eurovision, entry “(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”, which is (unsurprisingly) the longest Eurovision song title. The song was inspired by a comment made by Marko Veisson during a road trip about Korea’s drugs, claiming he did not know anything about them.
