🇩🇪 That Eurovision Review: Stylish and Impactful for Isaak in his first rehearsal

Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 continue in Malmö. The first half of semi-final two had their second rehearsals and the Big Five and Sweden had their first rehearsals. Countries rehearsing for the first time on Day 6 include the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain and Italy. The next to rehearse is Germany’s Isaak.

Isaak’s first rehearsal

The second to take the Eurovision 2024 stage at Malmö Arena in Malmö was Germany’s Isaak. He will be competing in this year’s competition with his entry “Always On The Run” after he won the German national selection, “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”.

Following Isaak’s first rehearsal, a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed him before and after he took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well his first rehearsal went.

Following on from Isaak’s rehearsal, the Eurovision live blog on Reddit noted that the staging has had an overhaul since the national final. Isaak is in what looks like a really stylish, sleek room. The blog also notes how in the room he is surrounded by flames. Towards the end of the song the flame effects fade as well as the removal of the set takes place. In the last chorus of the song it is just Issak stood alone on stage. It is noted that Isaak is also wearing a black suit, very different from his national final look, which was more casual.

Who is Isaak?

Isaak Guderian, whose stage name is Isaak started his musical career in 2011 when he participated in the German version of The X Factor. Following on from this at the age of 18, Isaak founded his own music company which specialises in organising events and concerts.

In 2020 Isaak started making his own music, in 2021 he won the German TV talent show “Show Your Talent”. Following on from this Isaak has released several singles in the run up to his participation in Das Deutsche Finale.

Germany’s Eurovision History

Germany has been part of Eurovision since the beginning, debuting in 1956. Their debut entries were Walter Andreas Schwarz’s “Im Wartesaal zum großen Glück” and Freddy Quinn’s “So geht das jede Nacht”. Germany has appeared at every Eurovision except for 1996, which means they have been at more Contests than any other country. They have a long history of success in Eurovision, finishing in the top 3 an impressive 13 times. Germany has won the contest twice: Nicole won in 1982 with her song “Ein bißchen Frieden”, taking home 161 points. Their second win came in 2010, when Lena scored 246 points with her song “Satellite”.

Germany’s most recent Eurovision entry was Lord of the Lost with “Blood and Glitter”. As Germany is part of the Big 5, they automatically qualified for the Grand Final. In the Final, the song received 18 points and finished last – 26th – for the second year in a row.
