Well, I might as well be upfront: this was not an enjoyable Eurovision for me. Despite that, I was happy to once again discover many new musical artists who I will be following from here on out. And it’s not just the new crop of artists that released a lot of new music. From the 2023 representatives, to past winners, other entrants, and musicians less directly connected to the contest, there are excellent new releases as far as the eye can see. And in the end, music is what got me into the contest, and the reason I write about it. So in this extra, extra, extra long edition of the monthly music round-up, you can expect to see: enough soft rock to replace your parents record collection, an Olympic soundtrack, and an absolutely absurd number of NF artists.
If you want to jump straight to a certain section, here’s a list of pages, each filled to the brim with new music:
- The 2024 entries
- The Winners
- The 2023 entries
- Other Highlights (the album of the month is here)
- Now That’s What I Call… The Extended Eurovision Universe (artists from NFs, JESC, intervals, and more. Oh, and the track of the month is here)
- Melfest alums (because there is too much music to include)
The 2024 entries
Marcus & Martinus – “Unforgettable” (LP)
On the very last day of the month, the lads who brought “Unforgettable” to the Eurovision stage release their new album. The Marcus & Martinus album, which is named after their Eurovision entry, is an 11 track effort that includes Melfest 2023 entry “Air”, previously released tracks “247365” and “We Are Not The Same” (ft. bbno$), plus a whole lot more.
iolanda – “CALMA”
iolanda has released “CALMA” (CALM). The song sees iolanda sing and rap about everything she has been through and that, if she is to achieve everything she wants, it also is important to take a moment to calm down. The music video meanwhile is a look at iolanda’s Eurovision journey, with clips showing a wide variety of moments before and during the contest itself.
LADANIVA – “Here’s to you Ararat”
After all the hustle and bustle this year, LADANIVA slow things down in their new ode to Armenia called “Here’s to you Ararat”. Named after the famous mountain that is the national symbol of Armenia, the song touches on the beauty of Armenia and its culture. It’s a beautiful, mesmerizing song, with the music and lyrics written by Armenian Navy Band, a group led by well known Armenian American multi-instrumentalist Arto Tunchboyachyan.
Angelina Mango – “poké melodrama” (LP)
Italy’s 2024 representative has followed up her Eurovision entry “La Noia”, which has charted across Europe, with new music. First this month there was the single “melodrama“, and now Angelina Mango has dropped an entire album called “poké melodrama”. The 14 track effort includes a combination of previously released tracks (such as, of course “La Noia”) and plenty of new material as well, including a collab with Marco Mengoni.
Dons – “Dark”
Hope dies last but Dons is barely hanging on in “Dark,” which is a very dark and moody ballad powered by the Latvian’s strong voice and a rich electronic production. The latter is courtesy of Liam Geddes (“Hollow”, Madison Watkins, Tia Kofi).
Jerry Heil & alyona alyona – “ПОДОЛЯНОЧКА (GET UP)”
I am still so, so happy that these two finally got to compete at Eurovision. Following their very successful stint of representing Ukraine at the contest, Jerry Heil and alyona alyona have already released their next collab, and you can read more about it below:
Nutsa – “Mother’s Love”
Georgia’s “Firefighter” of 2024 has followed her appearance in the final with the release of new track “Mother’s Love”. You can read more about the new music by Nutsa here:
Sarah Bonnici – “Lose”
A special treat to all of you who listened to Sarah Bonnici’s Eurovision entry on “Loop”, as she released new single “Lose”. Find out more about the track below:
Marina Satti – “P.O.P.” (EP)
Eschewing the post-Eurovision “just a single” tradition by dropping a whole EP is Marina Satti. Find out more about “P.O.P.” in the linked article:
