Maltese broadcaster TVM revealed the 14 finalists who will participate in Malta’s Junior Eurovision selection, Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest (MJESC) 2024.

Applications for Malta’s Junior Eurovision selection opened last month and closed on the 19th of August. After a week of deliberation among PBS’ jury, the broadcaster revealed the 14 finalists on Monday.
The participating artists and the title of their entries are as follows:

The next step is on the 21st of September, when the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place. Each finalist will perform their song live on the night. The results will be decided using a combination of a jury vote (80%) and the televote (20%). From there, the winner will represent Malta on the 16th of November at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid, Spain.
Malta’s Junior Eurovision History
In 2003, Malta was one of the countries to participate in the inaugural edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Sarah Harrison performed the song “Like A Star” and placed 7th. The Mediterranean nation participated until 2010, where it took a break and returned in 2013 with Gaia Cauchi and “The Start”, which was their first win in the competition. Malta achieved their second win in 2015, where Destiny Chukunyere won with her song “Not My Soul”. Destiny went on to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with “Je Me Casse”, where she placed seventh.
Malta’s most recent participation was in 2023. Yulan represented her country with the song “Stronger”. In Nice she scored a total of 94 points, finishing 10th.
