Yesterday, after much speculation, Sweden’s SVT released the full list of artists that will participate at next year’s Melodifestivalen; Sweden’s longstanding Eurovision selection, that will chose its entry for Basel. We were on the ground in Stockholm, and Tim had a chance to speak to some of this year’s acts; including Arwin, who will sing This Dream of Mine.

Check out our interview with Arwin here:

Arwin will sing This Dream of Mine in the fifth semi final in Jönköping on the 1st of March.

Who is Arwin?

Arwin is the moniker of Arwin Ismail from Haninge, Sweden. He has starred in several TV dramas on Swedish television, but has more recently been making a name for himself on Tiktok and other social media. His first single ‘More Than Just A Feeling’ was released in September 2023. He has had recognition from Melfest host Edvin Törnblom, who featured one of Arwin’s songs in his podcast, and also been championed by Benjamin Ingrosso.

This will be Arwin’s first appearance in Melodifestivalen.

Sweden’s Eurovision journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2024, Sweden were represented on home soil by Marcus and Martinus. As the host entry, their song “Unforgettable” did not need to compete in the semi-finals. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 174 points. 125 points were received by the juries, while the twins received 49 points by televoters.
