Behind the 11th door on the TES Advent Calendar is…

About S’Agapo

The first version of S’Agapo was released in 2016 with the following release of the song in 2017 getting a music video. The song has had four re-releases, the most recent release coming in 2019. Each release is largely the same song, with small changes like the mention of the year changing depending on when the song was released.

S’Agapo meaning “I love you” in Greek shows that this song is about the love for the Christmas spirit with the lyrics “I come to your neighbourhood and I cry”. The song was written by Christodoulos Siganos (Helena Paparizou, Anna Vissi) alongside Terry Petras and Valentino (Own music).

What do we think?

The song is a very by-the-books Christmas song with the bells and the Santa laughing, but it is a joy to listen to. It’s something I would imagine putting on at a Christmas dinner with family so it gets that vibe across and Eleni’s voice adds a soothing and joyful element.

The song also has a hint of Eleni’s style within it, which is what many Christmas songs can lose – the style of the artist singing it. The lyrics are as expected, however I was unsure why this song needed the many versions it has when they sound very similar to each other.

Eleni Foureria’s Eurovision Journey

Eleni Foureira entered Eurovision in 2018 with the song “Fuego” which placed second in Lisbon. She has also twice performed as an interval act at Eurovision, first during the final of Eurovision 2019, as part of the Switch Song interval, and more recently during the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024, where she performed alongside Chanel and Eric Saade.
