Andorra has confirmed it will not be participating in Eurovision 2026. The micronation in the Pyrenees has not taken part in the Contest since 2009.
Andorra not working with Catalan broadcaster
In the run up to the announcement, there had been speculation regarding Andorra and its future in the Contest. Network producers at Catalan broadcaster TV3 had said they were open to collaboration with RTVA to bring Andorra back to the competition. The plan would have seen the winner of a Catalan singing competition go to Eurovision on behalf of Andorra.
However, in an email sent to Eurovision blog Eurofestivales, RTVA confirmed it was not participating at Eurovision 2026. As well as this, it added it had “no plans” to work with TV3 for the purpose of competing in the Contest. In previous years, RTVA’s reasoning stemmed from its editorial policy, which ruled out any form of artistic competition.
Andorra’s Eurovision journey
The micronation of Andorra made their debut in 2004 with the song โJugarem a estimar-nosโ by Marta Roure. They have participated on six occasions, until 2009. They have not been present in the competition since. Andorraโs best result was in 2007 when the nation sent Anonymous to the competition with the song โSalvem el mรณnโ. Their last Eurovision entry was โLa teva decisiรณ (Get a Life)โ by Susanne Georgi in 2009, which failed to qualify for the final.
