What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from DMGP 2025?
Loïc (Made Of): Am I surprised that Made Of is my personal winner of this year’s OGAE Second Chance Contest ? Not at all; especially considering the consistent quality Finland brings to its national selection. Goldielocks delivered a near-perfect package : a fresh, contemporary pop track with an infectious hook, instant appeal, and undeniable replay value.
Though she couldn’t sing live due to illness, her pre-recorded vocals allowed the staging to take full focus. She appeared on stage inside a spinning golden ring, flanked by two identically dressed dancers who mirrored her movements, creating a hypnotic “clone” effect that played with perception and identity. The sleek, cinematic visuals combined with sharp choreography and clever camera work made it look bold, fresh, and unforgettable… One of the best stagings of the season, in my opinion.
It’s the kind of performance that could have easily stood out at Eurovision itself, if not for the unstoppable force that was Miss Erika Vikman ! Even months later, Made Of remains one of the songs I return to most frequently. Here’s hoping for a full-circle moment and a well-deserved comeback from Goldielocks in the next few years. A revenge arc is calling; and she’s more than made of what it takes.
Silvia (Tristeza): I’m a big fan of soft ballads, so of course Tristeza got to me. The lyrics are beautiful, Josh’s voice is soft and emotional… I just really love the song. Before the live show, it was actually in my top 3. His vocals were amazing live too, but the staging felt a bit too static, nothing really evolved on stage. Still, it ended up in my top 5. (And FdC was my favourite national final this year, which says a lot). I really liked Tristeza, and if it had gone to Eurovision, it would’ve easily been in my top 10.
Daniel (Lusterka): It is songs like Lusterka that keep me coming back to national final season again and again, because of the quite simple fact there is literally no other way I would’ve been able to stumble upon a song and an artist duo quite as incredible as this one. The pair’s “Podlasie Bounce” sound is as unique as it is hypnotisingly brilliant, and I’ve taken much enjoyment from not only Lusterka, but the entirety of the pair’s discography, including post-NF releases such as Nedospane Noče going straight onto many of my playlists. It’s safe to say I’ve become a fan, and will keenly watch their careers going forwards, whether or not that includes a return to the Eurovision sphere. (I really hope it does.)
About the OGAE Second Chance Contest
OGAE is a network of of Eurovision fan clubs and runs various contests throughout the year. For the Second Chance Contest, OGAE clubs in countries using public national selection processes can submit a song that did not go to Eurovision. Many clubs submit their second most popular entry as voted in their selection. But any club can choose any song from the process that meets the rules.
OGAE rest of the world (ROTW) selects a song from any country that has a selection process but no OGAE club.
All OGAE clubs can vote, regardless of whether they have a participating entry or not.
The winning OGAE club organises the contest in the next year. This year is hosted by OGAE Italy in Florence. This is following their victory in the competition last year with Annalisa’s ‘Sinceramente’ in Örnsköldsvik.
