Suspilne engages fans in shaping future of Vidbir

Suspilne has met with Eurovision fans and observers to discuss ways to improve Ukraine’s national selection process for the contest.

Brainstorming the future of Vidbir

The informal meeting brought together Ukrainian Head of Delegation Oksana Skybinska and long-time Eurovision commentator and Vidbir host Timur Miroshnychenko. Together with fans, they brainstormed ideas on how to make Vidbir “brighter and more interesting” for future editions.

“We brainstormed on how to make the national selection even brighter and more interesting for you”

The broadcaster shared in its social media post about the event.

Suspilne has been responsible for organising Ukraine’s national selection in a variety of formats since the country’s Eurovision debut in 2003. However, they have not yet commented on whether Ukraine will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Austria. If Ukraine takes part, it will be their first appearance at a contest hosted in Austria, having missed the 2015 edition due to financial difficulties.

Ukraine’s Eurovision journey

Ukraine is one of the most successful countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has scored nine top-five placements, with an extra four top-ten finishes. Ukraine won the Contest three times – in 2004, 2016 and 2022 respectively. Ukraine made history for being the first ex-Soviet country to win the Contest more than once.

In 2025, Ziferblat represented Ukraine in Basel with their song “Bird of Pray”. The band finished in 9th place, scoring 218 points – of which 60 points came from the jury, whilst the remaining 158 points came from the televote.
