TVP – the national broadcaster of Poland – has confirmed it will make a decision on whether it will participate in next year’s Eurovision in September. It comes after TVP hinted at using The Voice to help select its Eurovision act.
Poland delaying decision until September
Speaking to Polish Eurovision site ESC Spot, Agnieszka Lenart – TVP’s current Head of Press for Eurovision – confirmed a decision would be made in September. She added the decision itself will be made in mid-September, but the decision will be made within the deadline set by the EBU to participate.
Previously, TVP had hinted to switching its national selection format once again. Instead of using its national final from the 2025 season, the broadcaster dropped a hint that it could be using The Voice as a way to find the act for Eurovision 2026. However, this move has neither been confirmed nor denied by the broadcaster.
Poland’s Eurovision journey
In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Edyta Gรณrniak with the song โTo nie ja!โ and placed 2nd, Polandโs best result at the contest to date. Since then, Poland has participated 26 times, qualifying for the Grand Final 16 times.
Poland selected Justyna Steczkowska to represent the national at Eurovision 2025 with “GAJA”, thirty years after her first participation. She qualified for the final, ultimately finishing in 14th place with 156 points. Of these, 17 came from the jury, while the remaining 139 came from the televote.
