As Vienna begins its preparations to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the budget for the 2026 Contest been revealed. The city of Vienna has set aside a maximum of €22.6 million in order to put on the show.

Budget will help ORF in producing show

In the wake of Vienna’s selection as the host city for next year’s Contest, further details surrounding Vienna’s winning bid were announced. This included the rationale as to why Vienna came out on top over Innsbruck in the final race.

On top of having the requirements for the host venue and technical elements, Vienna’s large size allowed for the accommodation of tens of thousands of people during the two-week Eurovision period. The city also boasted a variety of extra equipment that would mean nothing would need to be purchased or custom-built.

As a result, Vienna’s budget of €22.6 million was brought in to help ORF within the production of the show, on top of hosting areas such as the Eurovillage, the Euroclub and the EuroCafé. Further specific locations of key events during the two-week spectacle will be released in due course.

The story of Eurovision 2026 so far

The journey to the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following JJ’s win in Basel, when Austria’s ORF accepted the rights to host the 70th edition of the contest. The bidding process started in June, with interested cities having until July 4 to submit their bid book. Innsbruck and Vienna were shortlisted, with the latter winning the right to host next year’s contest.

As for the organisation of the competition, the ‘core team‘ was revealed in June 2025, with further details about next year’s competition to be revealed in due course. The shows will take place on May 12th, 14th and 16th.
