Azerbaijani singer Dilara Kazımova, who represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, has hinted at a possible comeback to Eurovision in an exclusive interview on Xəzər TV’s “İncəsəhər” programme.
Reunion with the former team
During the interview, Kazımova spoke about her 2014 participation with “Start a Fire”, finishing 22nd at the grand final, a song she described as one of that year’s most beloved entries, and shared that she recently met with members of her original Eurovision creative team to explore future musical opportunities. Also, on February 14th, she will be singing an updated version of the song with Jamal Gasim.
“I know many people loved Start a Fire, and I’ve kept strong memories of it,” Kazımova said, adding that she recently reconnected with the team that supported her back then and has another meeting scheduled to discuss representing Azerbaijan again.
Azerbaijan’s Eurovision journey
Azerbaijan is a powerhouse in Eurovision, first debuting in 2008 with the song “Day After Day” by Elnur & Samir, finishing 8th. The country has since achieved five top-5 performances, including one win in 2011. Azerbaijan has an impressive qualification record, only failing to make the final in 2018, 2023, and 2024.
Azerbaijan internally selected Mamagama to represent them in 2025 with the song “Run With U”; they scored seven points in the first semifinal, placing fifteenth and missing out on the Grand Final for a third consecutive year.
