Ahead of their participation in Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Brandsta City Släckers, who are returning to Melodifestivalen with their song “Rakt in i elden”.

During their interview, Tim and Brandsta City Släckers talked about their return to the contest, how appearing as an interval act last year helped them on the way, and how it feels to work as a team for over 20 years.
Who are Brandsta City Släckers ?
Brandsta City Släckers are a rock band from Helsingborg and comprise of members Glenn Borgkvist, Mats Nilsson, Uffe Johansson , Olle Östberg and Tom Börjesson.
The group have participated in Melodifestivalen 3 times, the first being with their 2002 entry “Kom Och Ta Mig” which placed 5th in the final. The song became a huge hit and was number one on the Swedish charts for 19 weeks in a row. In 2003 they tried again with “15 minuter”. In 2020, they became part of the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame.
In 2024 they returned to the Melfest stage as an interval act in the interval act “För männen som byter kanal”, which spurred them to come back in 2026, returning with “Rakt in i elden”.
Sweden’s Eurovision journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
