Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2026 continue in Vienna. Countries rehearsing on Day 3 include Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Romania, Luxembourg, Czechia, Armenia and Switzerland. The fifth to rehearse today is Czechia’s Daniel Žižka.
What did we learn about Daniel Žižka’s staging?
Czechia’s performance of “Crossroads” leans heavily into visual illusion, building a staging concept that revolves around reflection and duplication. From the very beginning, the use of mirrors creates the impression of multiple Daniels on stage, turning a solo act into something far more layered.
The production doesn’t stay static. A set of movable mirrored panels is constantly repositioned throughout the performance, reshaping the stage and creating new visual angles as the song progresses. The result is a steady stream of effects that play with perspective, light and camera framing. Because at the centre of everything is the vocal. Daniel Žižka’s delivery remains the focal point. Even with everything happening around him, the performance never loses sight of what matters most, the song itself.
In rehearsal, Daniel appears in a soft blue outfit that contrasts with the sharper visual effects surrounding him. However, this may not be the final look, with alternative options reportedly still under consideration.

Who is Daniel Žižka?
Daniel Žižka is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter currently based in Prague. However, despite his young age, Daniel has already been touted as one of Czechia’s most promising young artists. He began his career in musical theatre before moving into writing and performing original songs. Under a previous name, he had already became known to the Czech public, but following his shift, he has released several singles, each to large success.
Czechia’s Eurovision Journey
Czechia made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, with Kabát’s “Malá dama”; however, their debut entry finished last in a 28-song semi-final, scoring only 1 point. This kicked off three consecutive non-qualifications, with their best result coming in 2008, finishing in second-last place. Having withdrawn in 2009 due to poor results, Czechia returned to the Contest in 2015. In 2016, Czechia qualified for the first time with Gabriela Gunciková’s “I Stand”.
Czechia reverted to an internal selection for 2025, selecting ADONXS with “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”. The song scored 29 points in the second semifinal, placing twelfth and missing out on the Grand Final for the second consecutive year.
