Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2026 continue in Vienna. Countries rehearsing on Day 3 include Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Romania, Luxembourg, Czechia, Armenia and Switzerland. The third to rehearse today is Romania’s Alexandra Căpitănescu.
What did we learn about Alexandra Căpitănescu’s staging?
Alexandra Căpitănescu arrives fully locked in, delivering a performance that already feels polished and ready for broadcast. There’s complete confidence in every camera angle and movement.
The concept behind “Choke Me” is built around tension. On stage, Alexandra isn’t alone. She’s joined by her band, but there’s also an additional presence woven into the staging, something less defined, more symbolic. Together, they create a visual representation of internal conflict, turning the performance into something more psychological than purely musical.
Who is Alexandra Căpitănescu?
Alexandra Căpitănescu is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter born in the Romanian city of Galaţi. She first rose to fame in 2023 when she competed in Vocea României, the Romanian verison of The Voice. She would go on to win the competition, and would release a string of songs since, with her first album being released in April 2024.
Romania’s Eurovision Journey
