2026 national final artists
🇫🇮 Komiat – “Tähdet syttvät pimeään”
Finnish folk/country/dance/humppa band Komiat came out of this year’s UMK national final in Finland as one of the fan favourites. Their song “Lululai” has been streamed almost 5 million times on Spotify since its release, and I can absolutely understand why. New single “Tähdet syttvät pimeään” builds on that success, taking the country and humppa influence, and adding a modern, pop production to it. This is a great song. Perhaps not as instantly as catchy and grabbing as their UMK, but great nonetheless.
🇱🇻 Kautkaili – “Savā vaļā”
Supernova 2026 runners-up Kautkaili blew fans of the Latvian national final away when the staging of their 2026 entry “Te un tagged” first appeared. This week, the band have followed up with latest release “Savā vaļā”. This is captivating, fresh and sonically, very pleasing. I need Kautkaili back at Supernova in the nearest future possible please.
🇳🇴 Skrellex – “Recovery”
Drag performer Skrellex has twice competed in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix, most recently with the song “Into the Wild” earlier in the year. This week, the queen joins fellow drag artist Supremme de Luxe for new single “Recovery”. It is very much a camp, eurodance, electro-pop beat, but with a real touch of vulnerability and emotion to it!
🇪🇪 Robert Linna – “Lauged tuuled”
To eurofans who don’t follow Eesti Laul all too closely, Robert Linna is probably most know as the son of Eurovision 1996 entrant Ivo Linna, who finished 5th at the Contest in Oslo. Back in 2021, Robert and his father Ivo appeared together in the band Supernova at the Estonian National final, with the track “Ma Olen Siin”, ultimately finishing in 11th place. Robert then served as one of the judges, tasked with selecting Eesti Laul entrants in the 2023 national final. In 2026, Linna made an appearance in Eesti Laul himself with the song “Metsik Roos”, unfortunately missing out on a spot in the superfinal round. This week, Robert has joined Estonian soul and RnB singer INGRA on her latest single “Lauged tuuled”. Together, they sound simply exquisite. Their voices are so complimentary, and the finished track is touching and beautiful.
🇷🇴🇸🇲 Edward Maya – “Soul”
I don’t think it counts as a ThatEurovisionSite New Music Round-up article without a feature from Edward Maya. I think this man has appeared on almost every single round-up so far this year. And that’s purely because of the amount of music this DJ creates. Edward Maya will most likely be known as the DJ and producer of huge eurodance anthem “Stereo Love”, back in the early 2010s. But this year, the musician entered both Selcția Naționalǎ in Romania with the song “Everybody Needs Somebody”, and San Marino Song Contest with the song “Balla”. The artists may also be known to fans as one of the creators of Romania’s 2006 Eurovision entry “Tornerò”, performed by Mihai Trăistariu. Latest single “Soul” sees him collaborate with house and EDM producer T3rminal. It’s mainstream electronic dance music, with a melodic house beat. What’s not to love?
🇸🇪 Felix Manu – “Säg mig vad du tänker”
Felix Manu appeared in deltavling 4 of Melodifestivalen 2026 with the song “Hatar att jag älskar dig”, and has since released a handful of follow-up songs. Latest of which, “Säg mig vad du tänker”, joins previously released “Låt tiden stå still” on this week’s new single. This is a great record from Felix, and it is truly exciting to see what he does next. Could he be a name to watch for 2027 Mello…?
2025 national final artists
🇫🇮 Goldielocks – “Don’t Let It Get to You”
🇸🇪 Nomi – “Riders of Aideen”
Competing in Melodifestivalen 2025 as Nomi Tales, Nomi has rebranded since her performance of “Funniest Thing”, adopting the one-word moniker “Nomi”. The latest release from the young singer comes in the form of new single “Rider of Aideen”. This is dramatic, folky and fun. The track has been made to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of the online multiplayer game Star Stable Online, and it is exactly how you would imagine a female-fronted, country inspired, folk-pop gaming ballad would sound from Nomi.
🇵🇱 Sw@da x Niczos – “Tišyna”
Sw@da and Niczos competed in 2025’s edition of the Polskie Kwalifikacje national final with “Lusterka”, eventually finishing in second place. The duo perform most of their music in the Podlachian microlanguage, a dialect spoken mostly in the north east of Poland. I love everything this duo creates. Their brand of folktronica is so uniquely them, it is hard to compare them to any other artists. This latest single, “Tišyna”, is more intense than some of their previous tracks, with less of a dance-ability to it, but it’s extremely captivating.
🇫🇮 Nelli Matula – “Kuolematon (Vain elämää)”
Nelli Matula appeared in Finland’s UMK national final back in 2025, with her big electro-pop track “Hitaammin hautaan”. The musician has gone on to have a hugely successful career in Finland, with millions of streams across many of her recent releases. Nelli is currently taking part in Finland’s Vain elämää TV show, and this week takes on the music of Timo Kotipelto in the form of “Kuolematon”. Her version of the song is a fun, femme power take on the rock-ballad record.
Vain elämää (meaning “It’s only life” in Finnish) is a popular Finnish reality music television series, where a group of well-known Finnish musicians live and record music together. Each show features the music of a specific member of the group, with the original artist listening and reacting to the new interpretations of their song. The final episode usually features duets or group performances. The show is an adaptation of the Dutch format De beste zangers van Nederland. The title of the show comes from the classic 1973 song “Vain elämää” by legendary Finnish singer Irwin Goodman. The show premiered in 2012, and has become one of Finland’s most successful and longest-running reality television programs, spanning numerous seasons and featuring dozens of Finland’s top recording artists. This week, the musical theme came from the hits of Finnish musician Timo Kotipelto, from the band Stradivarius, who is also taking part in this year’s show.
🇮🇹 Rkomi – “A MEZZ’ORA DA MILANO (con Khodi)”
Italian singer, songwriter and rapper Rkomi has twice appeared in the country’s Festival di Sanremo, most recently in 2025 with the track “Il ritmo delle cose”. He has also collaborated with many famous Sanremo names in recent years, including projects with Elodie, Sayf, Irama, Elisa and Marco Mengoni. This week’s single “A MEZZ’ORA DA MILANO” is quintessential, Italian rap. It has a darkness to it, but in a really pleasing way.
🇫🇮 VIIVI – “Herkkisten liiga”
VIIVI competed in the 2025 edition of Finland’s UMK with her emotional pop-ballad “Anna”, finishing in third place. After a handful of recent singles, this week comes full length album “Herkkisten liiga”. VIIVI has solidified herself as an exciting new talent in Finnish electro-pop, and latest record only furthers this. This is the kind of album I can see myself listening to on a day when I’m crazy busy, and need to march through a busy city on a mission.
🇮🇹 Giorgia – “PARAFULMINI”
Italian songstress Giorgia is a certified Sanremo legend. The singer won the Festival di Sanremo back in 1995 with the song “Come Saprei”, during the period in which Italy’s broadcast Rai were not as committed to Eurovision participation as today. Giorgia has twice returned to the Festival in recent years, competing in 2023 with the song “Parole dette male” and again in 2025 with “La cura per me”. She has yet to get a chance to represent her country in Eurovision, but nevertheless, she is an icon of Sanremo, and of Italian music in general. Giorgia has a new album, due October 15th, and “PARAFULMINI” is the latest single to come from the project. It’s a huge sound, (can I describe something as an almost-ballad?) and is exactly what you’d expect from such a huge star in Italian music.
