🇺🇦 Ukraine confirms Junior Eurovision participation for 2022

Ukraine’s national broadcaster UA:PBC has confirmed that the country will be present at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Yerevan.

Ukraine’s participation plan revealed

In a press release provided by the national broadcaster, UA:PBC said that preparations are underway for their Junior Eurovision participation in the Contest in December. A national final has been confirmed and will be inviting young stars to apply very soon.

No specific details regarding when the national final will take place have been revealed. UA:PBC will release further information regarding their participation in due course. The confirmation is poignant, as this is the first Eurovision event Ukraine has confirmed since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February.

Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision journey

In 2006, Ukraine made their debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Nazar Slyusarchuk and the song “Khlopchyk Rock ‘n’ Roll” (Хлопчик рок ‘н’ ролл), which placed 9th. Since their debut, the Eastern European nation has participated 15 times, and even won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo” (Небо).

In 2021, Ukraine selected its representative through a national final, where Olena Usenko won the right to represent the nation with “Vazhil”, which managed to place 6th receiving 125 points from the jury and online vote.
