More and more countries are confirming their intention to participate in next year’s competition. Another country to confirm it will be present in Liverpool is Austria. ORF’s participation was revealed as the official list of participating countries for Eurovision 2023 was announced. This will be Austria’s 55th participation in the contest.
Austria’s selection method for Liverpool is still to be confirmed
Alongside the confirmation that they will be participating in Liverpool, ORF is yet to reveal how they will be selecting their next Eurovision representative. Since their debut in the competition, they have used various selection methods in selecting their entry, with their 2022 being chosen internally.
Austria’s Eurovision Journey
In 1957, Austria made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where Bob Martin represented the landlock nation witht he song “Wohin, kleines Pony?”, where it manage to place 10th overall. Since their debut, Austria has participated 54 times (being in the final 47 times), and have won the competition on two occassions (1966, 2014). In 2021, Austria was represented by duo LUM!X and Pia Maria with the song “Halo”, where they managed to placed 15th in the semi-final; recieving 42 points from the professional juries and televoters.
