๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง BBC to broadcast highlights of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest in New Year’s celebrations

The BBC have announced that highlights of Dutch celebration Het Grote Songfestivalfeest will be broadcast as part of their New Year’s programming. It will follow a concert led by their Eurovision 2022 entry, Sam Ryder, as the clock strikes midnight in the UK.

Highlights to air on BBC One

The broadcast will contain highlights of the concert from Amsterdam which took place on 17th November 2022. The concert was presented by Edsilia Rombley, who represented The Netherlands in 1998 and 2009, before returning to present the contest in 2020 and 2021. Rylan will provide additional commentary and content, including backstage interviews with the performers.

Participating acts include Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra, Helena Paparizou, Alexander Rybak and Johnny Logan.

It is also not the only piece of Eurovision programming the BBC have planned for the festive period. A special edition of quiz show The Weakest Link will air on 30th December (18.45 GMT), featuring Duncan James from Blue, Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz, Sonia and Kate Robbins from Prima Donna. Also competing will be UK commentator Scott Mills and JESC commentator Lauren Layfield.

The UK will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, following Kalush Orchestra’s victory in Turin. The contest will be jointly-hosted by the BBC and Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC.
