Only a few days after the conclusion, more and more countries are continuing to confirm their participation for this year’s Junior Eurovision, which will take place in Nice, with Italy being the next country to reveal they will be taking part in this year’s competition.
Selection method for Nice to be revealed in due course
The news of Italy’s Junior Eurovision 2023 participation was revealed by the RAI Kids Press Department to Eurofestivales. RAI is yet to announce how or when they will select their entry for Junior Eurovision 2023. Almost all Italian entries were internally selected, but in 2015 they held a National Final.
It is also yet to be revealed if this year’s contest will once again be aired on RAI 1, which saw a massive jump to its rating, as Chanel’s participation was seen by over 1.5 million viewers, upon its airing.
Italy’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Italy made its Junior Eurovision debut in 2014 with Vincenzo Cantiello and the song โTu primo grande amoreโ. The performance scored 159 points on its way to a victory. Since winning, Italy’s best result is a 3rd place in the 2016 contest. Italy has so far participated seven times in the contest.
Italy’s most recent participation was in 2022. Chanel Dilecta’s “BLA, BLA, BLA” finished 11th with 95 points from the jury and online voters.
