Besa, who is representing Albania at Eurovision 2024, has given some hints for what the audience can expect from her performance in Malmö.

Besa not to be alone onstage

Having won Festivali i Këngës back in December, Besa has been hard at work designing her staging plans. Following the release of her revamped song, “TiTAN”, she is now on the pre-party tour ahead of rehearsals.

Now, ahead of her travelling to Sweden for the Contest, Besa has teased some of her plans for her performance. Speaking to broadcaster RTSH, Besa revealed she would not be alone on stage. In an interview on “E diela jonë”, Besa said that she would be joined by ballerinas during her stage show.

As well as as this, Besa also said that there will be a large focus on the on-screen graphics and the LED wall. When asked about the reasoning to change the language to English, Besa said:

Zgjodha anglisht sepse kënga nuk ka një stil etnik folklorik. Kënga në fillim është shkruar në anglisht më pas është përshtatur në shqip. Në anglisht kënga do vinte në shumë e më shumë njerëz. Më shumë audiencë gjatë performancës në Esc. Klipi dhe kënga është më e mira që kam bërë deri më sot.

I chose English because the song does not have an ethnic folkloric style. The song was originally written in English, then adapted to Albanian. In English, the song would reach more and more people. More audience during performance in Esc. The music video and song is the best I’ve done to date.

Albania’s Eurovision journey

In 2004, Albania made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest with Anjeza Shahini with “Image of You”, which placed 7th in the final. Since their debut, Albania has participated 19 times, and made the final 10 times, with their best result in 2012 where Rona Nishliu placed 5th with “Suus”.

In 2023, Albina Kelmendi and her family represented Albania at the Contest in Liverpool with their song “Duje”. Performing in the second semi-final, the six-piece group qualified for the final. At the close of the voting in the final, Albania finished in 22nd place with a total of 76 points. Of these, 16 points came from the juries, whilst 59 came from the televote.
