Preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid are well underway. The next country to reveal plans for their selection is The Netherlands. Broadcaster AVROTROS have now revealed the four acts that will be competing to represent The Netherlands at Junior Eurovision in Madrid.
Who is competing in Junior Songfestival 2024?
Unlike the adult version, AVROTROS uses a national selection to pick their Junior Eurovision entrant. This year is no different, with the broadcaster opting to once again use Junior Songfestival to select their representative. The many children that auditioned have now been whittled down to four acts. These are
- Veronika
- Ruben
- Dunyah, Hidde and Saïda
- Inkar, Miucha, Niek and Chiara
While some singers were chosen as soloists, it was AVROTROS who put the groups together. To see the reactions of the competing artists you can watch the video below.
The Netherlands’ Junior Eurovision Journey
The Netherlands has participated in every edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since its inception, first taking part in 2003. The country’s first entry came in the form of Roel, singing “Mijn ogen zeggen alles”. At the close of voting, the Netherlands finished in 11th place, earning 23 points. Since then, the Netherlands have taken part another 19 times, earning one victory in 2009 with Ralf Mackenbach singing “Click-Clack”.
In 2023, the Netherlands were represented by Sep and Jasmijn with their song “Holding On To You” in Nice. Once the combined scores were revealed, the Netherlands finished in 7th place. They received 52 points from the jury vote, and 70 from the public vote.

AVROTROS shouldn’t assign adult-written songs after 2024. The EBU needs to limit adult songwriters’ credit to no more than 50%, so the songs in the Dutch pre-selection will be ineligible and the winner can write a new song without professional songwriters.
