The host city for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be revealed next week on August 30th at 10:00CET. It comes after the shortlist was whistled down to just two cities – Geneva and Basel.

Uploading on their social media accounts, Swiss broadcasting association SRG SSR uploaded a photo which featured photos of places around both Geneva and Basel, with the ened of the video confirming that the host city will be revealed at 10:00AM CET on August 30th.
As well as this, the dates for the upcoming edition of the Contest are also likely to be revealed. No specific information on other information for the show has been confirmed by SRG SSR.
The host city race has been ongoing ever since Nemo won in Malmรถ, setting the stage for the country’s third time hosting. This will be the first time Switzerland is hosting the Contest in the modern era; having hosted the first ever Contest in Lugano in 1956. The city of Lausanne also hosted the show in 1989, following Celine Dion’s victory in Dublin.
The story of Eurovision 2025 so far
Switzerland will be hosting the 69th edition of the competition following Nemoโs historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmรถ. A few weeks after their win, Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler, was announced as the Executive Producers, with the other roles revealed in July 2024.
The following cities submitted a bid to host Eurovision 2025:
In mid-July, Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR announced that Geneva and Basel were the cities that made the final shortlist for hosting Eurovision 2025.
With the bidding period now over, the candidate cities will now present their bid, with site visits commenced at the beginning of July. By the end of July 2024, SRG SSR is set to reveal the two potential host cities that are still in the running, with the winning Eurovision 2025 host city to be revealed by the end of August.
