Emmelie de Forest – “Lovers Lullaby”
Denmark’s 2013 winner had been relatively quiet when it came to new music, but now Emmelie de Forest presents us with “Lovers Lullaby”. This sad yet sweet track has Emmelie sing over some love, dreamy music as she asks for her lover to take her worries away and sing her to sleep. This track, co-written by producer Jakob Schack Glaesner (best known as the guitarist for Johnny Deluxe), is the first song of an album Emmelie de Forest is working on.
Secret Garden – “Songs In The Circle Of Time” (LP)
Speaking of albums, the Secret Garden album I mentioned last month is now out! “Songs In The Circle of Time” includes a total of 13 tracks. While most of the tracks are of course purely instrumental, “Lullaby For Grown-Ups” has enough singing to warrant an official lyric video. Overall, this album is a lovely collection of calm yet evocative tracks for fans of the duo.
Marija Šerifović – “Uvek Si Mi Govorila” (LP)
There also is a new album by 2008 winner Marija Šerifović! “Uvek Si Mi Govorila” (You Always Told Me) takes us on an 8-track journey across the career of her mother and music teacher Verica, who released an extensive collection of folk songs over the course of 20 years. Just as Marija’s previous release was a gift to her son, this also is a gift, in this case in celebration of Verica’s 61st birthday.
Sertab Erener – “Sen İste”
Coming back to the round-up with a banger is Sertab Erener. Turkey’s Eurovision winner serves up seductive energy on “Sen İste” (You Want It), a groovy poprock track that sees Sertab sing with a whole lot of attitude. Joining Sertab Erener in the writing booth for this new music were Gülden Arslan and Sertab’s go-to producer Emre Kula.
Elisabeth Andreassen, Dag Erik Oksvold – “Whenever You Come Around”
One of the former members of Bobbysocks teams up with Dag Erik Oksvold for a cover of country classic “Whenever You Come Around”. This sweet track, originally recorded by Vince Gill and also covered by Chris Stapleton, was produced by Dag Erik Oksvold and Pål Brekkås (“Judge Tenderly of Me”, Unnveig Aas, Dina Misund).
Damiano David – “Silverlines”
With Victoria pursuing a solo career, Damiano David is following suit with his own new track this month. “Silverlines” goes from piano ballad to an absolutely massive sounding song and back again, it’s all very cinematic. Damiano David is joined in the writing booth by Ferras Alqaisi (The Chainsmokers, Katy Perry, Idina Menzel), Sarah Hudson (Dua Lipa, Måneskin, Troye Sivan), and producer Labrinth (The Weeknd, Rihanna, Tinie Tempah, and an impressive solo discography).
KALUSH x Krasna Tysha – “Тиші немає”
This makes for KALUSHcollab number 20. “Тиші немає” (There is no silence) sees the group work with Krasna Tysha, this time leading to a slightly more relaxed sound than we are used to from KALUSH.
Udo Jürgens – “udo 90” (LP)
Legendary Austrian singer and 1966 Eurovision winner Udo Jürgens would have turned 90 this month, and to celebrate that the absolutely gargantuan album “udo 90” has been released. This album is a collection of 90 different singles from across his career, spanning almost 6 decades. There is also one piece of new music on this album, as the previously unreleased “Als ich fortging” (When I left) is included as a bonus track.
Dana – “Saint Brigid’s Song (Brigid of Ireland)”
Ahead of the 1500 year anniversary of the death of Saint Brigid of Ireland, 1970 winner Dana has written a song commemorating her. Brigid is the patroness saint of Ireland and one of the three national saints of the country, together with Patrick and Columba.
