With the Eurovision 2025 season in full swing, some broadcasters are planning for their selection. Finnish broadcaster YLE has posted a countdown on the official social of its selection UMK, hinting at news to come on October 1.

The teaser was posted on a story on UMK’s Instagram page, with UMK25, a seagull, and a Nokia phone, with the post saying “Tomorrow, 08:00”, with what seems to be the Näsinneula tower in the background.
Looking at what happened this time last year, could we be getting the date for UMK25? YLE revealed the date for UMK24 on October 3, as well as the dates of when the competing artists would be revealed. Will history repeat itself? We will find out in less than 12 hours (08:00EET/07:00CET).
Meanwhile, the preparations for UMK25 are in full swing, as submissions for next year’s competition took place in late August, as well as looking for dancers for next year’s shows, with the auditions set to take place on October 13. With all of these preparations, a demo was posted on UMK’s Instagram page. Whether this one of the entries participating in UMK, your guess is as good as ours.
Finland’s Eurovision Journey
Finland debuted in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 10th with Laila Kunnunen’s “Valoa ikkunassa.” Since then they have competed 56 times, and appeared in the final 48 times. Finland has finished in the top 10 an impressive 14 times. They have won the contest once in 2006, with Lordi’s performance of “Hard Rock Hallelujah” getting 292 points.
Finland’s most recent entry was “No Rules” by Windows95man. They came in 7th place in the semi-final in Malmö, thus qualifying for the final. At the close of voting, he gained a total of 38 points, earning them 19th place. Windows95man received 31 points from the televote, and an extra 7 points from the juries.
