The Winners
Luís Trigacheiro ft. Salvador Sobral – “Imagina a Cara Dela”
Beja born-and-raised Luís Trigacheiro won The Voice Portugal in 2020 and now has released his second album, “Ela”, which also includes multiple collabs. FdC alumni IRMA and Milhanas both appear, as does Eurovision winner Salvador Sobral. Slow, Portuguese, slightly jazzy, it’s all the things you would expect from a project like this.
Céline Dion – “Hymne à l’amour”
Remember the Olympics? During the opening ceremony 1988 Eurovision winner Céline Dion gave her first live performance in four years. Now Céline’s cover of the Édith Piaf classic “Hymne à l’amour” has also been officially released on streaming for everyone to enjoy.
Emmelie de Forest – “Love Songs”
Serving up a cover of Margo Guryan’s 1968 classic “Love Songs” this month is Emmelie de Forest. This new music comes hot on the heels of last month’s “Lovers Lullaby“, and just like that one saw Jakob Schack Glaesner in the production booth. Songwriting credits this time however obviously go to Margo.
Frau Thomas & Herr Martin – “Zwei Shows in einer Nacht” (EP)
Thomas Neuwirth, who Eurovision fans mostly know as Conchita Wurst, this month took on the name Frau Thomas. Frau Thomas and “Herr Martin” Zerza are taking a set of covers on an Austrian tour, and have also released them under the title “Zwei Shows in einer Nacht” (Two shows in one night). SOngs from different languages, genres, and eras get translated to German and transformed into other genres in the process.
ELDAR x Emy Lia – “Əlvida”
One half of the duo that won 2011 serves up some more new music in duet form. “Əlvida” (Goodbye) is the latest by Eldar, who works with Emy Lia to create a competent piece of adult contemporary.
Lotta Engberg, Elisabeth Andreassen – “Kärleken & saknaden”
After appearing in the round-up last month, ex-Bobbysock Elisabeth Andreassen is now gearing up for Christmas. “Kärleken & saknaden” (Love & loss) is a duet with Lotta Engberg written by Åsa Jinder (Secret Garden, Magnus Carlsson, Christer Sjögren) and producer Stefan Brunzell (Lasse Stefanz, Kandis, The Boppers).
Damiano David – “Born With a Broken Heart”
After the pleasant surprise of “Silverlines“, Damiano now aims to surprise again by going (synth-)pop with “Born With a Broken Heart”. Damiano wrote this together with Sarah Hudson (Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue), and the song’s producers Jason Evigan (“THE LONELIEST”, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa), Mark Schick (Troye Sivan, Kid Cudi, Noah Cyrus),
Nicole – “Ich Gratuliere Mir”
An ode to her own life is the name of the game for Nicole’s “Ich Gratuliere Mir” (I Congratulate Myself). German music icon and close friend of Nicole Heinz Rudolf Kunze wrote the track for her together with his current regular songwriter Jens Carstens. Carstens teamed up in the production booth with Zoran Grujovski and Achim Meier (who also worked on Nicole’s 2023 live album).
Nemo – “Eurostar”
So I took the Eurostar recently and it seems like Nemo knew I was planning to do so, as they released their new song “Eurostar” this month. Read more about the song and watch the video filled with tons appearances by fellow 2024 contestants below:
Loreen – “Warning Signs”
Slowly but surely two time champ Loreen keeps releasing new music. Her latest release is “Warning Signs”, which you can find out more about here:
