Last year, Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2020/21 representative VICTORIA released a cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, as her Christmas offering in 2023. This year, is no different, as VICTORIA has released “sad girl winter (again)”, which is her offering for this Christmas.
VICTORIA’s Christmas present came early
VICTORIA co-wrote her Christmas offering alongside Beatris Jaksch, Gabriel Pettersson, and Maya Nalani Carlsson, with the song produced by diandian. Upon the release of the track, VICTORIA mentions that her Christmas present for her fans came early, and told us more about the track:
tried to hide it, but can’t anymore… my christmas present for you came earlier this year! 🤍 sad girl winter (again) is out everywhere ❄️ i wrote it from a place of deep sadness, but with a glimmer of hope for some kind of a christmas miracle. the song is a reminder that we never truly know how much time we have left with the people we care about. and when things end—whether through breakups or loss—we’re often left to navigate these overwhelming emotions alone.
The release of “sad girl winter (again)” comes just over a month after she released her latest single “In Between“. In 2020, VICTORIA was initially due to represent Bulgaria with her entry “Tears Getting Sober“, and prior to the cancellation, was the bookmaker’s favorite to win the contest. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 contest, Bulgaria internally selected her once again, and she participated with “Growing Up is Getting Old”. Overall, her participation, saw Bulgaria qualifying once again, where she placed 11th receiving 170 points from the jury and televoters.
