One month into the new year, more countries continue to confirm whether they will be taking part in Junior Eurovision 2025. The latest to confirm participation at this year’s event is Irish broadcaster TG4.
Ireland’s 10th participation in the competition
Ireland has confirmed to ESC Plus that they will be returning to Junior Eurovision this year. At the time of writing, the broadcaster is yet to confirm how it will be selecting its representative for the 23rd edition of the competition. It is important to note that since their debut in the competition, their representative has been selected through their national final, Junior Eurovision Éire.
Ireland’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Ireland first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Débuting alongside Australia, Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks singing ” Réalta na Mara”. At the close of voting, Ireland finished in 12th place – receiving 36 points. Ireland has since participated a further eight times. Their best placement came in 2022, when Sophie Lennon finished in fourth place with her song “Solas”.
In 2024, Enya Cox Dempsey sang “Le chéile” for Ireland. She placed fifteenth in a field of seventeen, receiving 15 points from the jury and 40 from the online vote.
