The second Eurosong 2025 showcase took place on Saturday night, showcasing the last four songs that will participate in the competition.
About Eurosong 2025
In November, Flemish broadcaster VRT revealed the eight artists who will compete in Eurosong 2025. These artists will reveal their entries across two shows before the national final takes place on Saturday 1st February. Four artists participated in this second showcase: Jelle van Dael, Mentissa, Red Sebastian, and Stefanie Callebaut. VRT revealed snippets from their entries earlier in the week. The artists performed their entries for the first time in a pre-recorded broadcast. No one was eliminated, meaning they will all advance to the finale in two weeks.
Prior to the presentation of their potential Eurovision entries, each act performed a cover of Eurovision song in their own style. They were:
- Jelle van Dael performed an EDM version of Blanche’s ‘City Lights’
- Mentissa performed a stripped back rendition of Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’
- Red Sebastian performed a piano version of Duncan Laurence’s ‘Arcade’
- Stefanie Callebaut performed a rendition of Loreen’s ‘Tattoo’
You can listen to the first four entries via VRT’s website here, and the second set of songs here.
Belgium’s Eurovision History
Belgium was one of the debutant countries at the beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956. For the first edition, countries could submit two songs, and for Belgium that year, ‘Messieurs les noyΓ¨s de la Seine’ by Fud Leclerc and ‘Le plus beau jour de ma vie’ by Mony Marc represented the nation. To this day we do not know the final results of Eurovision 1956. Belgium have taken part in 64 Eurovision Song Contests; however, they have only ever won once: in 1986 with Sandra Kim and the song ‘J’amie la vie’, scoring 176 points.
Following an impressive seventh place in 2023, Belgium chose Mustii to represent them with “Before The Party’s Over” in 2024. Mustii scored eighteen points in the second semifinal, placing thirteenth.
