Who is our winner from Sanremo 2025?
We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-29 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 29 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.
3rd. Come_Cose – “Cuoricini” (8.17):
2nd. Clara – “Febbre” (6.67):
1st. Joan Thiele – “Eco” (5.83):
What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from Sanremo 2025?
Angus (Coma_Cose): Did anyone ask for a real fun slice of indie pop? Because Coma_Cose are here with a song that transcends decades and is just an all-round good time. Their vocals sound good together, and that melody will have you clapping and singing along before the song is even over. Sanremo will probably never quite click for me, but songs like these make me believe it just might one day.
Daniel (Joan Thiel): It’s like this was specifically written with me in mind. This song, and Joan’s live performance just ooze class, and it’s the only song out of the bunch that has a real international feeling to it, this wouldn’t be out of place in a spy film for instance. The guitar especially is some of the best instrumentals I’ve heard this season. Bang Bang Woah.
Kittens (Clara): ‘Febbre’ had me a bit worried we were getting just another big ballad from the starting notes, but of course Clara has that habit of hiding a banger under it all. While the beat takes a little too long to kick in for my liking, when it does get there it’s divine, the contrast between pullback to the strings and the beat kicking back in is done really well so the song doesn’t really lose pace. All of that adds up to me being very glad to see her back!
What is Sanremo?
Italy’s renowned Festival di Sanremo is, in many ways, the original Eurovision–the contest we know and love was modeled after it, after all! First broadcast in 1951, it is the longest-running annual TV music competition in the world. Sanremo was developed as a way to revitalize the city of Sanremo’s economy and reputation after the Second World War, and has since split into two smaller contests: the “Big Artists” section, whose winner gets first refusal to represent Italy in Eurovision, and the “Newcomers” section, first included in 1984. Scores are determined through public voting and two groups of juries, and the festival takes place across five nights.
Italy’s Eurovision Journey
Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since the very beginning and have always been considered a powerhouse in the contest. The country has won the contest on three occasions in 1964, 1990 and 2021. Italy withdrew after 1997, returning again in 2011 with Raphael Gualazzi who sang ‘Madness Of Love’. Raphael placed second in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest after scoring 189 points.
Italy’s most recent entry in 2024 was “La Noia” by Angelina Mango. At the close of voting, Italy scored a total of 268 points in the Eurovision 2024 Grand Final, placing 7th. Of these, 164 points came from the juries, whilst the remaining 104 points came from the televote.
