Despite being the first act announced for Basel, Theo Evan becomes one of the last acts to reveal his Eurovision entry, with “Shh” being presented today.
“Shh” to Basel
Cyprus’ entry, “Shh”, is a high-octane floor-filler song, with electronic beats brought to the fore. The music video sees Theo running in between two worlds, fighting mysterious figures. He also shows off his dancing skills before the door connecting the two universes is burned as he shushes the crowd.
“Shh” was composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos, Elsie Bay, NYLAN, and Linda Dale. Several well known names in the world of Eurovision. Furthermore it’s been revealed that a star studded team will be behind his performance in Basel, with Borja Rueda set to choreograph the performance. Theo’s Eurovision journey saw him perform Eleni Foureira’s ‘Fuego’ at the Greek national final.
Who is Theo Evan?
Theo Evan was born and raised in Nicosia to a Greek/Cypriot family. At the age of 7, he attended a local dance school, where he managed to earn medals in dance competition and perform for other artists. He then went on to join his school choir, which incolved him performing in musicals, which in turn helped him uncover his own artistry. Curious about music, he then attended Berklee College of Music.
Cyprus’ Eurovision Journey
The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song “Monika” and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 40 times (33 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final).
In 2024, CyBC internally selected Silia Kapsis to represent them in Malmö with the song “Liar”. During her participation in Malmö, Silia qualified for the final, before going on to finish in 15th place with a total of 78 points. The juries gave Cyprus 34 points, whilst the televote awarded Silia 44 points.
