As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Belgium, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Strobe Lights” by Red Sebastian.
Our thoughts on “Strobe Lights”
In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Kittens will be on the main seat and will be showing her reaction to “Strobe Lights”
What did the other team members think of “Strobe Lights”?
Tim: I will not deny that Red Sebastian have great vocals, the fact that he was able to pull this off. It may not be to my personal taste, but I applaud him for his effort and for giving us such a great stage presence when he performed this on Eurosong, I’m pretty sure he will be able to do something better when we get to Basel.
Euan: Like Tim this isn’t something that’s typical to my taste, but he manages to pull this off so well. Even though it takes over a minute to actually hit the intense part of the song, the energy still manages to resonate with you from the first seconds of the song. This is one song that I’m most excited to hear in Basel to see how he manages to pull of the dramatic finish.
Rory: This song, while it definitely is a strong rave-friendly track, leaves me wanting more. When I first saw the buzz about the song, I was rather bemused. His voice is by far and away the biggest pro of this, and it is very obvious that this will have zero problems with vocals. However, I just feel that something is missing; I just can’t put my finger on what.

Belgium’s Eurovision Journey
Belgium was one of the debutant countries at the beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956. For the first edition, countries could submit two songs, and for Belgium that year, ‘Messieurs les noyès de la Seine’ by Fud Leclerc and ‘Le plus beau jour de ma vie’ by Mony Marc represented the nation. To this day we do not know the final results of Eurovision 1956. Belgium have taken part in 64 Eurovision Song Contests; however, they have only ever won once: in 1986 with Sandra Kim and the song ‘J’amie la vie’, scoring 176 points.
Following an impressive seventh place in 2023, Belgium chose Mustii to represent them with “Before The Party’s Over” in 2024. Mustii scored eighteen points in the second semifinal, placing thirteenth.
