As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Greece, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Asteromáta” by Klavdia
Our thoughts on “Asteromáta”
In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be showing his reaction to “Asteromáta”
What did the other team members think of “Asteromáta”?
Daniel: Exactly what I wanted from Greece. I love a big Balkan female ballad more than almost anything, and this is no exception. Klavdia’s vocals are absolutely stunning and the instrumentals are amongst my favourites of the year. I do think the staging needs quite a bit of work as it feels too static, but there’s definitely a strong foundation there.
Shiloh: Because the staging is so static (and, frankly, the production quality in Greece not quite up to where it is in other countries’ preselections), I’ve underestimated this song quite a bit. The more I listen, though, the more it grows on me, and that is almost entirely on Klavdia herself. She’s such a strong vocalist and manages to communicate the emotions of this song so intently through both her vocals and her facial expressions. With an improved stage show, this could really be a bombshell in Basel.
Molly: This song is just beautiful both on the studio and live performance. Her vocals help elevate this song and set this to be a magical ballad. At first listen I didn’t pay much attention but I have to admit that it has grown on me a lot to become one of my top 5. The way the dancers so elegantly create this spiral is so smart and it felt like a lot of thought was put into the performance. I am excited to see how they step this up in Eurovision.

Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 44 occasions (41 of which made the Grand Final), and have won once, in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Marina Satti with the song “Zari”. Following her performance, Greece qualified for the Grand Final, finishing in 11th place in the Grand Final in Malmö. She earned a total of 126 points, of which 41 were from the national juries and 85 were from the televoters.
