Now that the utterly chaotic 2025 National Final season is over, and we now have all the songs that will be competing at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel. Instead of taking a breather, it’s time to deep dive and being overly analytical about ever single song in That Eurovision Jury 2025.

While there’s no way to accurately predict what the juries or televotes will decide next month, we can say how we would vote if we were jurors, because boy do we have some strong opinions here at TES.

No Rules! (okay we do have to have some rules)

The 36 countries competing this year have been randomly sorted into 6 segments. Each segment will be voted on by 5 jurors. They have assessed based on six categories: Melodic Impact, Artist Presence, Individuality, Attention Drawing, Vocal Fit, and Lyrical Impact. Exact specifications of these criteria can be found below. Our five jurors have given a score of 1 to 5 on each of the six topics, allowing each juror to give a maximum of 30 points to each song. In total there are up to 150 points available to each song. Once every song and score has been presented a full breakdown with a ranking of all 36 of this year’s entries.

Additionally, all of our jurors were asked to give one positive, and one negative comment about each song in a constructive manner. In line with our current editorial policy Israel will not be reviewed as part of this jury. You can read more about our stance here.

These are our personal opinions based on the criteria outlined. This is in no way attempt to accurately predict what will be the outcome of live shows and should not be taken as such.

Countries And Jurors For Part Two

The six countries that make up the first segment being voted on are: Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, The Netherlands, and Montenegro.

The jurors voting in this segment are: Shiloh, Georgia, Rory, Daniel, and Angus

Voting Criteria

Criteria 1: Melodic Impact

How lasting is the beat of the track. The more the beat stays, the higher the ranking.

Criteria 2: Artist’s Presence

If a national final is used, how their presence on stage affected the performance. If an internal selection was used, and no pre-party of other live footage is available then their presence is assessed based on their history.

Criteria 3: Individuality

How different is the song compared to the rest of the acts participating this year.

Criteria 4: Attention Drawing

How drawn in are you by the song. Are you waiting for it to finish, or completely engrossed.

Criteria 5: Vocal Fit

Assessing the vocal fit of the artist to the song rather than judging their technical ability in full. ie. X singer may have a wider range to Y singer, though singer Y may utilise the range better in their song and therefore should be ranked higher than X.

Criteria 6: Lyrical Impact

How lasting are the lyrics to you. Has listening to it left you singing the song.

Total score: 106.5

Positives

Shiloh: Who but Lucio could sing this song? Something about his voice is very unique yet fitting to this specific melody.

Georgia: Lucio Corsi is a very experienced performer who will know how to get the best out of the song.

Rory: This song perfectly reveals Lucio’s dreams and insecurities in a way that so many artists would be afraid to do, and for that alone – he earns my respect.

Daniel: There’s absolutely nothing else like this in the contest this year, and this really is a breath of fresh air

Angus: Lucio Corsi brings something pretty different to the Eurovision stage this year, and the song is a great fit for his voice

Negatives

Shiloh: If there’s anything I could change about this, I’d dial up his stage presence a bit. There are moments where he acts reserved to the point that it makes my attention start to wane; I’d love to see his physicality a bit more dialed up to make the performance more interesting to watch.

Georgia: To me, it doesn’t really feel like there is a standout memorable moment, one that first time viewers will remember enough to vote for it.

Rory: While he really does lay his emotions bare, the song’s overall sound and tempo just leave it feeling rather sleepy, which may put people off following through on the song.

Daniel: I could see this being left behind in a high energy contest if the running order isn’t favourable

Angus: The chorus is amazing, but it is the only part of the song that really stands out to me and throughout the rest of the song I am just waiting for it to arrive

Positives

Shiloh: Who would have thought we’d get a dance song, in German, with a cello, from Germany at Eurovision? My favourite thing about this entry is its willingness to take risks and be a little niche.

Georgia: Props to Germany for sending something both in German and completely different to what they usually send.

Rory: It’s fantastic to see Germany sending something that can fit within their music scene, and appeals to the general masses outside of the country, with this banging floor-filler!

Daniel: There’s a certain charm to Tynna’s stage presence that elevates this already fantastic song even further. Abor is fun too.

Angus: Baller is catchy, something only enhanced in live performances thanks to the act’s energy and stage presence

Negatives

Shiloh: I know Tynna was sick during the final performance, but even the semifinal clip doesn’t give me a lot of confidence about her ability to sing live.

Georgia: The NF performance for me felt very static, so it needs to add some dynamism in Basel.

Rory: Tynna’s vocals are rather shaky on a song like this, so she really needs to hone her vocal skills if “Baller” is going to do well in Basel.

Daniel: Tynna showed in her covers during Chefsache she has a fantastic vocal range, it would’ve been nice to see more come from that.

Angus: The lyrics are not the focal point for a song like this, and this track is no exception

Total score: 95.5

Positives

Shiloh: Klavdia’s voice is just perfect for “Asteromata”! She has a great live quality and her tone matches the vibe of the song very well.

Georgia:Klavdia is a very impressive vocalist and the main selling point of the entry.

Rory: This song’s gradual build complements Klavdia’s vocal ability perfectly, while still giving that immediately recognisable Greek flare.

Daniel: Klavdia is a fantastic vocalist and the song is well catered to show off her skills

Angus: Klavdia has a lovely voice and this song really lets her show if off

Negatives

Shiloh: I’ve listened to this song so many times, and I always like what I hear, but I can never remember how it goes. Even months after it was selected.

Georgia: Having the lyrics fully in Greek may make it difficult for foreign voters to connect with the song.

Rory: Given its deep ballad feel followed by the syrtos beat, some people may see this as being rather clunky and messy.

Daniel: She really needs to work on her stage presence, the only real flaw in her NF performance was it was far too static

Angus: Musically there isn’t all that much going on and I start tuning out bit by bit as the song progresses

Montenegro 🇲🇪 Nina Žižić – Dobrodošli

Vocal Fit43.554420.5
Lyrical Impact3.53423.516

Total score: 99.5

Positives

Shiloh: Nina is obviously a seasoned performer with years of experience, and it shows in her performance. Her physicality and emotions are totally dialed in, which makes her much more engaging to watch.

Georgia: Nina’s great vocals are the main draw to this song, showing off her experience.

Rory: Nina is really the star of the show with this song. Her vocal delivery is what brings this together as a package as you can tell she really believes in what she is singing about.

Daniel: Nina’s vocals are brilliant and she holds the stage really well to top it off.

Angus: Nina Žižić is a true performer and both live and in the studio version gives it her all

Negatives

Shiloh: The composition really lacks impact. There are “big moments” here, but none of them are quite big enough to be memorable.

Georgia: It feels like this song is set up to fail – the “death” slot in the stronger semi-final, only one obvious voting ally in the semi-final, three other female ballad-esque songs in the semi. (would love to be proven wrong though)

Rory: While it is a Balkan ballad, it’s a ballad nonetheless – and some people will taper off upon hearing something without a BPM of 150.

Daniel: I think the song lacks a “wow” moment to really hook people in

Angus: It’s a good ballad by numbers but it doesn’t quite do enough to fully grab my attention

Spain 🇪🇸 Melody – ESA DIVA

Lyrical Impact4.53.5121.512.5

Total score: 81

Positives

Shiloh: My god is it catchy. I speak very little Spanish but that doesn’t stop me from fumbling through the syllables and belting it at the top of my lungs; the RHYTHM is memorable, even if I can’t understand much of the words.

Georgia: I love the little touches of Spanish flair you can hear in the instrumental track.

Rory: Claude’s rich vocal tone is a really nice touch to this song to give the lyrics of this some extra depth and transmit the message of the song.

Daniel: Melody is an incredibly experienced performer and she makes it abundantly clear. She knows how to put on a stage show.

Angus: The chorus is memorable enough to instantly make you go “oh that song!” even months after last hearing it

Negatives

Shiloh: While this song does feel distinctly Spanish, it’s also a female-led dance/club entry, of which there are several this year alone; this genre is also a mainstay at Eurovision in general. It feels like there were very few risks taken here.

Georgia: The lyrics don’t really mean anything so may be difficult to resonate with voters.

Rory: It already has drawn comparisons with Stromae’s “Papaoutai”, and these comparisons will either help or hinder their chances.

Daniel: The song just feels really dated, it feels like something you’d hear in Eurovision 2008.

Angus: The song does nothing interesting or new, and Melody seems to struggle keep up with the track as well

The Netherlands 🇳🇱 Claude – C’est La Vie

Lyrical Impact33.533.5215

Total score: 108.5

Positives

Shiloh: “C’est la vie” keeps your attention because the song is constantly changing. You want to keep listening and watching to hear where it’s going to go next–it’s not predictable, but all the pieces work well together.

Georgia: Claude is a great performer with very good vocals and an engaging live performance.

Rory: There is no denying that this song is meant to be played in a nightclub, thanks to its infectiously positive energy and driving beat throughout.

Daniel: Claude is a really charming and charismatic performer with an infectious energy

Angus: A very catchy song that Claude performs with true emotion and conviction

Negatives

Shiloh: While there’s little else like it among this year’s Eurovision entries, something about this song FEELS generic because it sounds so much like you’d hear it on the radio, which dulls the excitement a little.

Georgia: I don’t really know how you stage this? It strikes me as a difficult song to stage which may impact its relationship with viewers.

Rory: With the added elements in the revamp, this sounds really rather dated and would struggle to stand out in a modern edition of the Contest, which does not put this in good stead.

Daniel: I worry some viewers may check out in the time before the song really starts to get going

Angus: The song tells a beautiful story and does so well, but the lyrics just fail to quite sing to me, even if I really appreciate the bilingualism
