ERT is set to launch the Eurovision 2026 Ethnikós Telikós process next week. The submission window will remain open through September, giving artists and songwriters two full months to apply.
Strategic shift and ambition
ERT appears committed to enhancing the 2026 selection. Following a successful Ethnikós Telikós in 2025, which resulted in a top-6 finish for Greece’s entry, “Asteromata”, the broadcaster views public selection as both artistically successful and financially viable. Reports indicate a strong interest in turning Eurovision into a bigger, multi-show event to replicate that success. ERT is considering a multi-week national final, potentially including two semifinals and a grand final, branded as a full Eurovision week experience.
Greece’s Eurovision journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou”, which placed 11th. Since then, they have participated on 44 occasions (41 of which made the Grand Final), and have won once, in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Klavdia with the song “Asteromáta”. Following her performance, Greece qualified for the Grand Final, finishing in 6th place. She earned a total of 231 points, of which 105 were from the national juries and 126 were from the televoters.
