Lithuania opens submissions for Eurovizija.LT 2026

Public broadcaster LRT has officially opened the Eurovizija.LT submissions, setting the stage for Lithuania’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

Submission details and rules

Artists and songwriters have until 11 November 2025 to submit their entries. Key guidelines include:

  • Songs must be new and not publicly released before 1 September 2025.
  • Applicants can be from Lithuania, EU/EFTA citizens residing in Lithuania, or third-country nationals with permanent residence there.
  • Only one song per performer is allowed.
  • LRT will select at least 30 songs for the televised stages.

Competition format

The show will feature five or six semi-finals, leading up to a grand final. The first semi-final is scheduled for 17 January 2026. Results will be decided by a combination of jury and public votes, with the winner earning the right to represent Lithuania in Austria at Eurovision 2026.

LRT has also recently announced several format changes for Eurovizija.LT 2026, including updates to the voting system and staging support.

After the submission window closes, LRT will review all entries. By 25 November 2025, at least 30 finalists will be announced ahead of the national televised rounds.

Lithuania’s Eurovision journey

The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 22 times and made the Grand Final 15 times. LT United gave Lithuania its best-ever Eurovision result back in 2006, when the country placed 6th.

In 2025, Katarsis represented Lithuania, participating with the song “Tavo akys”. Performing in the second semi-final, Katarsis qualified for the final in sixth place. In the Grand Final, Lithuania finished in 16th place overall, scoring 96 points – 34 points came from the juries, while another 62 points came from the televote.
